Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of startup and SME clients, providing advisory and compliance services.
  • Own the end-to-end BAS and tax return preparation and lodgment process, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide guidance and quality control for the remote bookkeeping team to maintain clean and accurate financial records.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on accounting and tax matters, offering planning and problem-solving expertise to clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
  • Must be a registered individual Tax Agent with the TPB and have at least 2 years of experience in this role.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing tax accountant managing a portfolio of SME clients.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing a team of bookkeepers and tax accountants.

WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES Be the backbone of Sleek’s Australian tax services – help us scale our internal processes and set the standard for excellence. Manage your own portfolio of startup and SME clients – from advisory to compliance, you’re their go-to expert. Represent clients confidently with the ATO – you’re their tax hero. Own the end-to-end BAS and tax return prep & lodgment process – accuracy is your middle name. Provide guidance and quality control for our remote bookkeeping team – because great numbers start with clean books. Act as a trusted advisor on all things accounting and tax – from planning to problem-solving. Lead, mentor and grow a team of like-minded, ambitious bookkeepers and tax accountants – we’re building a dream team, and you’re at the helm. We are opening offices in Melbourne and Perth, you would be part of the founding team of these two offices, pacing operations and leaving your mark in Sleek’s growth journey in Australia. Requirements We’re seeking a detail-oriented and experienced tax professional ready to make a strong impact. To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. A passion for the Australian SME space and client satisfaction. Registration as an individual Tax Agent with the TPB, with at least 2 years of experience — this is mandatory A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a practising tax accountant managing a portfolio of SME clients (Sole traders, companies, trusts…). At least 2 years’ experience managing a team of bookkeepers and tax accountants. Strong client service and communication skills — you’re confident in explaining tax matters clearly and professionally. A high level of professionalism — you represent Sleek with integrity and care. Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills — you can manage multiple tasks without losing focus. Proficiency with Xero Practice Manager, Dext, A2X, and other accounting operations tools. A proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver results. Important: This role is open to candidates based in Melbourne or Perth, you must hold valid Australian work rights. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
